Here’s what you absolutely can’t miss this upcoming week in sports:
1. PGA – PGA Championship (5/23/21)
Corey Conners finished in first place at 5-under after the First Round of the 2021 PGA Championship. However, 3-under seemed to be the lucky number for six golfers on Thursday. Keegan Bradley, Viktor Hovland, Brooks Koepka, Aaron Wise, Sam Horsfield, and Cameron Davis were all T-2 at 3-under prior to the start of the Second Round.
Prior to the start of the tournament, Brooks Koepka was at +5000 to win. Before the Second Round started, he was at +1000 to win. Conners and Hovland were the favorites to win on Friday morning at +750. I like Koepka to win the tournament on Sunday. I also think Collin Morikawa is a decent bet to win at +1500. He finished the First Round T-8 at 2-under. Interestingly enough, Jordan Spieth is at +2000 to win the tournament after finishing the First Round T-41 at 1-over.
2. NBA – Memphis Grizzlies at Golden State Warriors (5/21/21 at 9pm)
In case you missed it, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors 103-100 on Wednesday night. The Lakers will face the Phoenix Suns for the first Round 1 game of the NBA Playoffs on Sunday. The Warriors, on the other hand, have to win another Play-In Tournament game on Friday against the Grizzlies in order to advance to the Playoffs.
The Lakers are currently at +400 to win the NBA Finals right behind the Brooklyn Nets at +240. In my opinion, the Warriors are on par with the Lakers. LeBron James made a three-pointer with less than a minute left in Wednesday’s game to lock in the Lakers win. Golden State’s Steph Curry is a machine. I have no doubt that the Warriors will defeat the Grizzlies on Friday with ease. I like the Warriors spread at -4.5. I also like the Warriors on the moneyline at -170.
3. NHL – Game 4: Washington Capitals at Boston Bruins (5/21/21 at 6:30pm)
The Boston Bruins are currently leading the Stanley Cup Playoff Series 2-1. On Friday, the Capitals and Bruins will meet again for Game 4. I like the Capitals on the moneyline at +130. They are the underdog heading into this game, but I really like them to win this series. All three of the Series 1 games have gone into at least one period of overtime so far. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if Friday’s game also goes into OT. I also like Alex Ovechkin to score a goal for the Caps.
