In Between the Lines: Chapter 17
Time flies when you’re having fun. It’s the first weekend of February, and you know what that means…it’s Super Bowl time! The Kansas City Chiefs are 3.5-point favorites. There are some great player props and odds boosts available to bet on in the Tipico Sportsbook app.
With a stacked sports schedule comes fervent sports bettors. “In Between the Lines” gives avid fans and sports bettors exactly what they want. Looking ahead to the upcoming week in sports, “In Between the Lines” offers inside analysis on line movements and key stats.
Here’s what you absolutely can’t miss this upcoming week in sports:
1. NFL – Kansas City Chiefs at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Super Bowl LV (2/7/21 at 6:30pm)
Let’s get into the nitty gritty nuggets for Super Bowl LV. Favorites have covered two straight Super Bowls and three of the last four. I like the Kansas City Chiefs to cover the 3.5-point spread on Sunday night. However, the Chiefs have not done so hot against the spread so far this season. They will enter Super Bowl LV 8-10 against the spread on the season. This makes them only the fifth team to advance to the Super Bowl with a losing ATS record. The only team who has won the Super Bowl with a losing ATS record were the Baltimore Ravens in 2012.
AFC teams have won and covered the last five of six Super Bowls. Additionally, the favored team is 35-19 straight up in the 54 Super Bowls. I like Kansas City and the points in this one. But never underestimate Tom Brady. Only two quarterbacks have won multiple Super Bowls as an underdog. Those two quarterbacks are Eli Manning and Jim Plunkett who have each won two.
2. PGA Tour – Waste Management Phoenix Open Final Round (2/7/21)
Of course, the Super Bowl is the top priority on Sunday. However, the Waste Management Phoenix Open is a big deal in the golf world. Matt NeSmith and Mark Hubbard were T-1 at 8-under after the first round of the tournament on Thursday. Play is still underway for Friday’s second round. Steve Stricker and Keegan Bradley are currently finished for the day and T-1 at 11-under on the tournament. Meanwhile, Xander Schauffele is 6-under on the day also T-1 through 15 holes.
I like Schauffele to win this the tournament on Sunday. Prior to the start of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, he was +800. Schauffele had a hot start to his PGA Tour career, finishing with four wins in just two years. However, he has now gone more than two years without hoisting a trophy. I think this could be the win that Schauffele needs to get back on track.
