Here’s what you absolutely can’t miss this upcoming week in sports:
1. NBA – Brooklyn Nets at Golden State Warriors (2/13/21 at 8:30pm)
Well, Brooklyn’s Kevin Durant is ready for Saturday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors. Last Friday, Durant came in close contact with an employee who had received an inconclusive coronavirus test. Durant played 19 minutes after checking in midway through the first quarter. However, after the employee returned a positive test, Durant was unable to play from the third quarter on.
The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Warriors 125-99 on December 22nd. The Warriors, however, have dramatically improved since then. I am sure Durant is hungry for another win against his former team. But I see the Warriors finding their groove. If they win against the Nets on Saturday, it will be their third win in a row. I like the Warriors moneyline in this one. Either way, I think this will be a really close game. I do not think it will be a blowout like the first Nets and Warriors game of the season.
2. NBA – Los Angeles Lakers at Denver Nuggets (2/14/21 at 10pm)
The Los Angeles Lakers have won six games in a row, and one of those games took place on February 4th against the Denver Nuggets. In that matchup, the Lakers defeated the Nuggets 114-93 at home. On Sunday, the Lakers and Nuggets will meet again, this time in Denver. The Lakers are an impressive 20-6, while the Nuggets are 13-11.
I really like the Lakers moneyline in this one. LeBron James is averaging 25.5 points per game, 7.9. rebounds and 7.9 assists. Dennis Schroder, Kyle Kuzma and Montrezl Harrell have also been key players for the Lakers. Harrell scored 20 points off the bench in their last game against the Thunder. And of course, there is Anthony Davis, who is arguably the second-best player on the Lakers team behind James. Although questionable for Friday night’s game, hopefully he will be definite on Sunday.
3. PGA – AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Final Round (2/14/21)
The Pebble Beach Pro-Am is a very unique tournament. Typically, each professional golfer is paired with an amateur. However, this year there are no amateurs participating due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Based on how the tournament is going so far, I like either Paul Casey or Jordan Spieth to win. Prior to the start of the tournament, Casey and Spieth were +1300 and +2300, respectively. However, I wouldn’t sleep on 19-year-old Akshay Bhatia, who is playing this week on a sponsor exemption. On Friday, Bhatia was the first player since 2008 to hit all 18 greens at Pebble Beach.
