In Between the Lines: Chapter 19
Time flies when you’re having fun. There is a lot going on this weekend in tennis, UFC, NHL, golf, NBA and college basketball. There are a plethora of player props and odds boosts available to bet on in the Tipico Sportsbook app.
With a stacked sports schedule comes fervent sports bettors. “In Between the Lines” gives avid fans and sports bettors exactly what they want. Looking ahead to the upcoming week in sports, “In Between the Lines” offers inside analysis on line movements and key stats.
Here’s what you absolutely can’t miss this upcoming week in sports:
1. NHL – Lake Tahoe Outdoor Games (2/20/21 and 2/21/21)
In case you missed it, the NHL will host two outdoor games in Lake Tahoe this Saturday and Sunday on the 18th hole of the Edgewood Tahoe Resort in Stateline, Nevada. On Saturday, the Colorado Avalanche will take on the Las Vegas Golden Knights at 3pm. On Sunday, the Philadelphia Flyers will take on the Boston Bruins at 2pm.
The Avs are the favorite at -130 on the moneyline. The Golden Knights are +105 on the moneyline. This will be the third straight meeting between the two teams. The Golden Knights won 1-0 on Sunday, and the Avs won 3-2 on Tuesday. The over/under is set at 5.5, and I like the under in this one. Playing outdoors will definitely be different for the players, which I think could result in a low-scoring game.
Sunday’s game between the Flyers and Bruins was moved up an hour from its original time due to a bright sunshine forecast in the late afternoon. We could all use some sunshine after all this snow. The Flyers will be without six lineup regulars due to the COVID-19 protocol: Justin Braun, Claude Giroux, Travis Konecny, Scott Laughton, Oskar Lindblom and Jakub Voracek. That being said, I like the Bruins on the moneyline in this one.
2. PGA – Genesis Invitational Final Round (2/21/21)
The Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California is always a fun one to watch with its field of elite golfers. With plenty of big names still at the top of the leaderboard, Sam Burns led by two shots after the first round after three straight birdies. The 24-year-old is looking for his first PGA Tour victory. Not only did he finish 7-under 64 on Thursday, but he also opened with an 18-foot eagle putt.
Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay and Dustin Johnson don’t tee off for the second round until later in the afternoon on Friday. Burns is currently at 5-under on the round through 17 holes sitting in first place. However, I would not sleep on Jordan Spieth. Spieth is at 2-under through 13 holes T-4. But at the rate Burns is going, I like him to win. He is currently at 12-under on the tournament.
In case you missed it, Tae Hoon Kim, who is playing on a sponsors exemption, recorded a hole-in-one on the 16th hole on Thursday.
3. WTA – Australian Open Women’s Singles Final (2/20/21)
The Women’s Singles Final is on Saturday, as Japan’s Naomi Osaka and America’s Jennifer Brady will face each other. Osaka defeated Serena Williams in the semifinal on Wednesday. Brady and Osaka met five months ago at the U.S. Open semifinal. Osaka came out with the win, 7-6, 3-6 and 6-3. That win set Osaka up to ultimately win her third career grand slam title. Brady, on the other hand, is looking to win her first major.
Currently, Osaka is the favorite to win at -500. Brady was the favorite to win at +350, but Tipico Sportsbook has boosted the odds to +400. I think Brady has trained hard for this one and could come out with the win. However, I definitely don’t think it’s going to be easy, as Osaka has been ranked No. 1 by the Women’s Tennis Association.
