This week’s PGA Tour event, The Honda Classic, is taking place in Palm Beach Garden, FL at the PGA National golf course. A regular stop on the schedule for many years, The Honda Classic has been known to be one of the tougher tournaments to win each season. The field is going to have to contend with a difficult course with many defenses that greatly penalize poor shots, along with a constant and steady wind. The forecast is looking no different this week, and it will make for an interesting watch as the leaders make their way down the back nine on Sunday afternoon and have to traverse the treacherous three-hole stretch of 15, 16, and 17, known as “The Bear Trap.”
Although it never hurts, distance is not a major key this week and golfers will instead want to focus on keeping their drives out of the hazards and penal rough. There will be plenty of long irons into greens as well that will keep the golfers on their toes, which is not something we see many weeks of the year.

Honda Classic Outright Winners – Tipico Odds
Russell Henley - 25/1
Henley is one of the more accurate drivers in the field this week and when you combine that with his precision irons, it makes for a deadly combination at PGA National. Before last week, Henley had gained strokes on approach 16 straight events that had ShotLink data, and even last week’s poor performance was driven by a poor stretch in Round 2. If you look through his history at this event, you will find a victory in 2014, as well as four other T25s. His skill set is a great fit for the course and his form is top-notch, making his deservedly one of the favorites to win this week.
Doug Ghim - 50/1
Ghim was on the ride of his life going into the final round of THE PLAYERS before the wheels fell off, however, I’m jumping back on. Perhaps it was the pressure of such a huge tournament, or most likely, a combination of nerves and a bad day on a course that is not overly forgiving to poor shots. I did, however, like how he spoke leading into the final round and after about how it was a great learning experience for him, and now he comes to another course, even more demanding, but perhaps more suited to his skill set. Ghim is a great iron player who gains a lot on the field from long range, which will be key this weekend. He’s also fairly accurate off the tee and does not often make huge mistakes i.e., double bogey or worse. The field is weak by PGA Tour standards and Ghim will hopefully find himself right back in contention this week.
