2021 QUARTERBACK RANKINGS

Training camp across the league is underway and our roster audit series has come to an end. Over the past few weeks, we have reviewed and ranked the different position groups for the Giants, Jets, and Eagles to create an ultimate power ranking going into training camp. This deep dive into the position groups is designed to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of each team to help predict which prop bets may be smart picks for this upcoming season.

This week we will dig into the starting quarterbacks for each team. This will take each player’s range of outcomes into consideration. All three teams have some unknowns at the position and there are rumors about a new face possibly joining the group. These rankings will be followed by the overall power rankings at the end of the piece.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (#1)

Key Player: Jalen Hurts

Jalen Hurts is a fantastic leader and dynamic athlete. Philadelphia is ready for him to “take the reins” of the starting quarterback position. The Eagles hired a quarterback coach who has known Hurts since he was a child. They drafted one of his former college receivers in the first round. And questions still remain as to whether or not he will be the starter for the long term. Hurts has concerns about his accuracy and slow release time but showed he can deliver in big moments during his four starts last season. Philadelphia remains the center of the Deshaun Watson trade rumors because of their abundant draft capital and lack of commitment to Hurts.

NEW YORK JETS (#2)

Key Player: Zach Wilson

Zach Wilson is finally signed and ready to get rolling at Jets training camp. The #2 overall pick has an extremely quick release and is expected to start from week 1. He pays a Russel Wilson style of football with his small stature, compressed motion, high-angle passes, and willingness to run. His mobility will likely help hide some of the issues that remain on the Jets’ offensive line. It remains to be seen how he will handle the jump from the Mountain West to the NFL. He also has a limited support cast around him. If he is able to elevate the Jets beyond the struggles they’ve experienced in recent years, he could push for Rookie of the Year.

NEW YORK GIANTS (#3)

Key Player: Daniel Jones

If you followed this blog over the past year, you’re well aware of the lack of faith this writer has in Daniel Jones. From his chronic turnovers to his inability to read defenses, he has limited the Giants even more than Eli Manning in the twilight of his career. The Giants have provided him with weapons while failing to provide a sufficient offensive line. With the additions of Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, and Kyle Rudolph, Daniel Jones has plenty of options to distribute the ball to in the two seconds he’ll have before defenders are in his face. The Giants’ moves this offseason give them every excuse to move on from Daniel Jones in 2022 and this year may be his final as a starter in the NFL.
