The Tipico Sportsbook app is already preparing for the 2021 NFL season. Tons of betting options are available, including spreads and totals for week one as well as futures for the entire season. In this week’s edition of Garden State Gridiron, we will examine the best bets for fans of the Giants, Jets, and Eagles. These bets can be found at the intersection of strategy and fun, so there will be no bets against the team to score or to win. Check them out!

New York Giants

Azeez Ojulari: Defensive Rookie of the Year (+2000)

Not only was Azeez Ojulari one of the best pass-rushers in the 2021 NFL Draft, he’s already the best pass-rusher on his new team. The New York Giants boast one of the toughest defensive lines in the league, but defensive tackle Leonard Williams led the team in almost all pass rush statistics last season. Ojulari has a huge opportunity ahead of him.

With Leonard Williams on a new contract and coming off a year when he made headlines, he will have a target on his back from opposing offenses and his motivation level may be slightly lower than when he was playing for the biggest contract opportunity of the year. He will certainly still play well but may not fill up the stat sheet like he did last year. This is where Ojulari comes in. He has the opportunity to lead his team in sacks as a rookie on what is expected to be one of the better defenses in the league. Defensoive Rookie of the Year is an award based on narrative and statistics, and Azeez Ojulari could be viewed as a young star in New York who raised the defense up to the next level.

New York Jets

Week 1 Moneyline vs. Carolina Panthers (+180)

This is the Sam Darnold revenge game, but that’s not what we are focused on for this game. The Jets have a fresh, new offensive system orchestrated by Mike LaFluer and executed by rookie quarterback Zach Wilson.

The Panthers have a very young defense. Their entire 2020 draft class was made up of defensive players and they selected cornerback Jaycee Horn in the first round of this year’s draft. Mike LaFluer’s two biggest coaching influences – Kyle Shanahan and his brother Matt LaFluer – specialize in confusing defenses and creating space for their playmakers. The reloaded Jets offense will have some opportunities to score points on this inexperienced Carolina defense. If this game plays out this way, it could be a strong start toward an Offensive Rookie of the Year campaign for Zach Wilson (+750).

Philadelphia Eagles

To Win the NFC East (+450)

Despite the disaster of a season we saw in 2020, the Philadelphia Eagles are in a prime position to contend for the division crown this year. Following the NFL schedule release, we learned that the Eagles will play divisional games in five of their final six matchups of the season, which will at minimum keep Philadelphia in the hunt for the division until the end of the season. Plus, these long odds don’t reflect the starting cornerback the Eagles are likely to add prior to the start of the season.

There are no exceptional teams in this division and the case could be made that the Eagles have the most stable quarterback situation in the NFC East. Dak Prescott is coming off a traumatic ankle injury and it remains to be seen whether he will return to his impressive form of years past. Plus, the Dallas defense has yet to show they can be relied on. Washington has a quarterback committee of career backups between Ryan Fitzpatrick, Taylor Heinicke, and Kyle Allen, none of whom can be trusted to lead the team in a clutch situation. Finally, New York has Daniel Jones and, despite surrounding him with weapons, they are already preparing to possibly move on from him at the end of the season. The NFC East is wide open and Eagles should be in the mix through the end of the season.
